What is Magik? Understanding Magic an FAQ
by David K. on Apr.25, 2009, under FAQ, Faith

- Cover of Witchcraft
The roots of Wicca, or Witchcraft, are very old, coming down through a variety of channels worldwide. Although any general statement about our practices will have exceptions, the following will attempt to present a basic foundation for understanding under magic.
Some of the old practices were lost when indigenous religions encountered militant Christianity and were forced to go underground for survival. The ancient mystery religions were lost when the practice of the rites were stopped and the old verbal traditions were no longer available
Magic represents “the act of changing consciousness by Will.” Magik shapes and changeslife force, your own consciousness, your health and that of the planet. Magic aaccepts that Very little is preordained, except that we will die.
In Wicca every magical act is a communion with God. It is not necessary to talk about God in connection with magic, which is seen as a driver to causing real change in the world that has little to do with common religious sensibility. But it must be stated that magic taps this ultimate source of power.

Conditional Love?
by David K. on Apr.14, 2009, under Faith, Fear, Follow, Thought
The WC Fields saying/quote of “I love Jesus, but I hate his followers” is an interesting reality. I know this might not be the exact quote and it may be someone else, but we continue to look at our religion as the only way. Is what I believe the only way to believe?
Please Note: This does have some not so good language.

What is the Big Bang?

The big bang is a theory on how this whole world and the universe started. The big bang theory is the theory that the universe started from a single point, and has been expanding ever since the initial explosion.
This has been well-established by observations, such as the apparent movement of galaxies away from earth, and the background radiation believed to be the leftover light from the big bang.
The evidence for a big bang having taken place about 15 to 20 billion years ago is fairly overwhelming, so it is reasonable to believe that it is the case.
Some astronomers, who are religious, argue that the big bang theory confirms the existence of God and the basic elements of the creation story as told in the Bible.
Scientists, like people in most any profession, have a vast diversity of religious beliefs. Some of us attend houses of worship, others do not. Some of us consider ourselves very religious, others consider ourselves staunch atheists. So simply while a scientific theory, it could validate God or stories from the Bible

What is Stigmata and is it contagious?
by David K. on Mar.23, 2009, under Faith, Fear
Of course Stigmata is NOT contagious, unless your really religious, bumped into a yet to named saint who blessed you or you are in fact yourself a saint.
Stigmata (or the Crucifixion Complex) in the religious sense are the wounds of Christ appearing on the hands, feet and body of an individual, usually a Christian, but to be Christian is not a requisite for the appearance of stigmata. Sometimes the wounds are ulcerated wounds and at other times they are bleeding wounds. Essentially Bodily marks, sores, or sensations of pain in locations corresponding to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus.
There are many recorded cases of stigmata occurring throughout history with the first recorded case being that of St Francis of Assissi in 1224. It is interesting to note that many of the people who exhibit these wounds are often fervently religious people and quite a number of them became sainted by the Catholic Church. The stigmata is, in effect, an imitation of Christ and it can occur by a pious obsession with the crucifixion and the suffering of Christ – a form of living martyrdom?
Or as Karen stated on her blog: “Stigmata is when Jesus gets his, you know, business all over you.”
