Nostradamus lived from 1503 to 1566 in France, and he wrote a book of prophecies consisting of ten sets (or Centuries) of 100 quatrains. The prophetic quatrains have been studied and published continuously in the years since his death. Several of the Nostradamus quatrains that are relevant to the subjects prophecies discussed around the Antichrist, including the rise of the Antichrist in Russia, World War 3, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Iraq, Osama bin Laden and September 11 and the War against Terrorism, and the possibility of disease plagues including AIDS, andInfluenza. The Nostradamus prophecies are in no particular order, which makes it very difficult to interpret them. Also, Dec. 23 2003 was the 500th anniversary of the birth of Nostradamus. Actually Nostradamus was born on Dec. 14, 1503 (Julian calendar), but because of the shift in days to the Gregorian calendar, it is actually Dec. 23 2003 that was the 500th anniversary of Nostradamus’s birth.

Let us consider the Grand Cross Astrology pattern of August 1999. On August 18, 1999, there was an unusual alignment of planets in a Grand Cross shape, possibly the most unusual Astrological alignment seen in the last two thousand years. And one week before, on August 11, 1999, there was a solar eclipse seen over Europe. The Grand Cross, which is one of the most amazing astrological alignments ever seen in history, consisted of: the Sun, Venus, and Mercury in the sign of Leo, Mars and the Moon in Scorpio with Pluto close by in Sagittarius, Saturn and Jupiter in Taurus, and Neptune and Uranus in Aquarius. The Scorpio is considered to be the Eagle, and Aquarius the man, then there are the four beasts seen in Revelation 4 that sit at the throne in heaven, that have the faces of an eagle, a man, a lion, and a calf, in Revelation 4:1-8 (King James Version):
a throne was set in heaven…and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. …and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
The solar eclipse over Europe on August 11, there is a prophecy by Nostradamus of interest. Some of the prophecies do have dates, including Century 10, Number 72:
In the year 1999, in the seventh month, from the sky there comes a great king of terror, to bring back the great king of the Mongols, Mars rules triumphantly, before and after
Concerning this prophecy by Nostradamus, it is interesting that the solar eclipse passed over France on August 11,1999, and on August 17, 1999 the Cassini spacecraft with its nuclear fuel passed within a thousand miles of earth’s surface, within a day of the Grand Cross pattern. I think the significance of Cassini passing by earth within a day of the Grand Cross pattern is that Cassini may be a hologram, a symbolic parallel event, related to the rise to power of the Antichrist in Russia as Vladimir Putin, former President and now Prime Minister of Russia. Note that the Cassini spacecraft reached Saturn in July 2004, and landed a probe on Saturn’s moon Titan in Jan. 2005. “Titan” in Greek totals 666 (the number of the Antichrist), where in Greek each letter is also a number, and Greek is the language of the Book of Revelation and the New Testament. So possibly in there may soon be significant events concerning Putin, the Antichrist, and possibly he may be the “Great King of Terror” mentioned by Nostradamus, and Mars ruling may mean war in years to come. I realize that many of you reading this will think that the “King of Terror” is Osama bin Laden, the Arab terrorist leader responsible for the 9/11/2001 terrorist attack on the U.S.. On this page on the War against Terrorism I discuss why I think Osama bin Laden is too evil to be the Antichrist, and that the Antichrist will initially appear to be a good man. Osama bin Laden is another character in Revelation, mentioned in Revelation 9:11, “the Angel of the bottomless pit”, also called “The Destroyer”, a demon or unclean spirit from the depths of Hell. In 2009-2010 I think that former Russian President Vlad Putin’s evil side will emerge. Armageddon I think occurs near November 2010, possibly a nuclear war in the Middle East.
Note that former Russian President Putin began his rise to power in Russia in August 1999, at the time of the Cassini fly-by of earth, becoming Prime Minister for Yeltsin (second-in-command in Russia) on August 9, 1999. On December 31, 1999, Putin became Russia’s President. Also note that, the “great King of the Mongols” would be Genghis Khan, and it was announced 2 years later on Aug. 17, 2001, that Genghis Khan’s tomb was being searched for in Mongolia. It could be that Genghis Khan’s tomb will be found and opened soon, and out of the tomb will come the future terror of mankind, the reborn Genghis Khan, Putin. Note that in October 2004 it was announced that Genghis Khan’s palace had been found in Mongolia, so this is a sign of the King of Terror soon emerging, and indicates that Genghis Khan’s tomb may soon be found. Genghis Khan conquered much of the known world around 1200 AD, including much of Russia, murdering millions. See the geographic coordinates page for my suggestions on where in Mongolia the Genghis Khan tomb may be found. Also, note that another Khan is Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, the father of Pakistan’s atomic bomb, who allegedly has also given away Pakistan’s atomic secrets to Libya, Iran, and North Korea. (See this page on King James Bible Code matrices about Dr. Khan and the Islamic Bomb.) Dr. Khan could by developing and giving to other countries the A-Bomb be a fullfillment of the “King of Terror” in the above quatrain. Iran will likely have the ABomb soon. And Iran has medium range missles now to deliver the ABomb. Also, another fullfillment of this Nostradamus prophecy (prophecies can have multiple fullfillments) could be a comet or asteroid colliding with earth, so a King of Terror coming from the sky. The Bible Code matrices on this page indicate that an asteroid could collide with earth in the near future, breaking into 7 pieces, and causing a giant tidal wave.

On June 17, 2 B. C., there was a close conjunction of the planets Jupiter and Venus, where they were seen to actually merge, a very rare astronomical event. This could have been shortly after the time of birth of Christ, and could account for the Star of Bethlehem. The two brightest planets merging would certainly have been interpreted as an unusual event by Astrologers of that time, including possibly the Magi, the Three Wise Men, believed to be from Babylon where Astrology was greatly studied. The light of Jupiter would have been added to the light of Venus, increasing slightly its brightness. Venus is the morning star– this term is used to describe Christ in Revelation 22:16. We could also think of Venus, the female Goddess, as Mary; the joining of Jupiter and Venus would represent the birth of Christ. So, Jupiter was lit up brightly by being seen to merge with Venus in 2 B.C.. 1995 years later, in July 1994, Jupiter was lit up brightly by a comet collision.
From July 16 to 22, 23 pieces from a disintegrated Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 collided with Jupiter, producing spectacular fireballs at collision. Satan is represented as a star falling from Heaven in Revelation 9:1, like the comet. Therefore, the Jupiter comet collision have been an omen of the appearance of the Antichrist in year 2000, as Russia’s President Putin. A celestial event involving Jupiter would herald the Antichrist’s appearance, similar to a conjunction involving Jupiter and Venus heralding the birth of Christ. Both Christ and the Antichrist are described as bringing light to the world– the increased light of Jupiter would symbolize this light. Note that Jupiter is the King of the gods in Roman Mythology, which fits the idea of Christ or the Antichrist. Were there any unusual astrological configurations, near the time of the comet collision with Jupiter? Yes, there was an unusual grouping of planets on August 31, 1994. There was then a Grand Water Trine, a very rare astrology configuration where planets were grouped in the three water signs, forming a triangular pattern. There was an alignment of 3 planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Mars) in the three water signs Scorpio, Pisces, and Cancer, spaced exactly equally apart, all at nine degrees in these signs. Such trine patterns are considered to be very powerful in astrology, because the energies of the planets are then able to combine. To consider the importance of this Grand Water Trine pattern, let us consider this prophecy of Nostradamus, one of the prophecies is usually interpreted to be about the coming of the Antichrist is Century 1 Number 50:
From the aquatic triplicity there is born a man who has Thursday as his holy day, His power and renown grows, by land and sea, to the East there is a storm brewing.
There is no time period indicated by Nostradamus for this prophecy, but by its subject matter it is connected with the idea of the future great dictator, the Antichrist, or another in Revelation, the False Prophet, who is mentioned in others off Nostradamus’ prophecies. Interpreting this prophecy, the aquatic triplicity could be interpreted as being the Grand Water Trine, of planets in the three water signs. And note that Thursday is mentioned, and Thursday is “Thor’s Day”, Thor being the Scandinavian equivalent of the Roman God Jupiter. So this connects this passage to Jupiter, and the Jupiter Comet collision. Also, it may be assumed that this man starts his own religion, since none of the world’s major religions use Thursday as their day of worship (with the exception of Hinduism in India). This, in fact, is exactly what the False Prophet of Revelation 13 is prophesied to do– begin his own religion. Also, concerning Thor, in mythology Thor battles the world-encircling serpent in mythology, Jormungandr the Midgard serpent or world serpent, at Ragnarok, the battle at the end of the world.

What are the end times?

Eschatology is a Christian term that means the study of the end of history from a religious perspective. Probably more obscure theological text has been written on this topic than on any other belief in Christendom.
The Bible contains many prophecies about the future. The Christian Scriptures (New Testament) in particular talks extensively about the return of Jesus Christ to this earth. 1 This is usually called his “second coming,” or “parousia.” The Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 24, is devoted to this topic, as is much of the book of Revelation, and 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18. A literal interpretation of the Bible shows that four important events are predicted:
* The Millennium: Revelation describes an important interval lasting for 1000 years when Christ rules. 1 This is a golden era; a time of universal peace. The concept was first proposed by the ancient Persian religion of Zoroastrianism.
* The Tribulation: This is a 7 year interval when a world religious-political leader called the Antichrist takes power.
* Armageddon is a terrible war provoked by the Antichrist. Most people on earth will die. God’s anger, hatred, and wrath are poured out over mankind and the earth at this time. A series of violent events as prophesied in Daniel 9, Matthew 24, and Revelation 4-19 will occur.
* The Rapture: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 describes a miraculous event when Christ will descend from the heavens. Conservative Protestants believe that faithful “born again” Christians who have previously died will be resurrected, rise from their graves, and ascend to meet Jesus in the sky. Immediately afterwards, “born again” Christians who had not died will also ascend into the air. They will abandon cars, airplanes, factory jobs, homes, families, friends etc. Since the vast majority of humans are not “born again,” most people will remain behind on earth. More details on the rapture.
Unfortunately, this and various other Biblical passages predicting the future are ambiguous. The events themselves are open to many interpretations. There is no clear indication of either their timing or sequence. This leaves the passages open to many conflicting beliefs about the end times. A lot of intra-denominational and inter-denominational strife has resulted from disagreements about end time prophecy. For example, the Roman Catholic Church and most mainline and liberal denominations do not have expectation that the Rapture will occur. Belief in the Rapture is mostly confined to Fundamentalists and other Evangelicals.

Understanding the apolcalyptic writings
by David K. on Jan.27, 2009, under Faith

About apocalyptic writings:
Revelation is the final entry in the bible – basic the whole world ends art. It describes a coming period of great danger, destruction, and transition. “The apocalypse…used a symbolic or allegorical language to convey the message about the imminent End…Christian apocalypses are thoroughly frightening for the sadistic punishments inflicted on the inhabitants of hell, for the inventions of extreme torture and dismemberment. The descriptions of Heaven are scarcely less awesome, with pictures of angel servants in the Heavens, singing eternal hymns of praise to a bejeweled Lord whose face is too bright to be perceived.”
Apocalyptic literature has been found throughout the Middle East. The first examples of this theme is found in the ancient writings of Babylon and Persia. According to theologian and author Tom Harpur, “British orientalist Gerald Massey wrote that Revelation itself…is really a Christian version of the Mithraic apocalypse ‘Bahman Yasht.’ Massey says the latter has the same drama drawn out as in Revelation and that all ancient Parsee or Persian sacred books referred to the original scriptures as apocalypses.” 2
Apocalyptic literature typically includes a number of concepts:
- Time is divided into 2 ages: the present age is ruled by Satan and his demons and the age to come will be ruled by God.
- the transition will occur very quickly
- the end of the present age will happen in the very near future
- the transition will include wars, plagues, famine, earthquakes and other natural disasters
- A general resurrection of the dead.
- A final judgment.
- Satan’s supporters will be annihilated.
- God’s supporters will enter a period of peace and happiness.
The first suggestions of an apocalypse within the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) is found in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, and Micah. They discussed the coming “day of Yahweh.” Many dozens of apocalyptic books appeared during the period 165 BCE to the destruction of the Jerusalem temple in 70 CE. One well known example is the “War Scroll” found among the Dead Sea Scrolls and probably written by the Essenes. Another example is preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures as the book of Daniel.
Old Testament Apocalyptic Literature: The Book of Daniel
Chapters 1 to 6 describe Daniel’s interpretation of King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream; the attempted execution of Daniel’s three friends in the fiery furnace; the handwriting on the wall of King Belshazzar’s banquet hall, Daniel survival in the den of lions, and Belshazzar’s feast. Chapters 7 to 12 describe a series of visions that he experienced: a dream about 4 beasts (a lion with eagles’ wings, bear, leopard, and a terrible beast); a vision of a ram and goat; a prayer of confession to and trust in God, and a momentous vision of Israel’s future, leading to the end of the age.
Conservative Christians generally believe that Daniel was captured by the Babylonians circa 605 BCE, spent the rest of his life in Babylon, and wrote the book circa 540 BCE. Much conservative Christian prophecy concerning the second coming of Christ is based upon this book and in particular upon King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and Daniel’s dream of 4 beasts. The four empires in both dreams refer to the Empires of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. The Roman Empire exists in two parts. The first is the historical Roman Empire which has faded from the scene. The second phase has not yet risen to power; its foundation can be seen in the European Common Market. As we approach the year 2000 CE, many sermons by conservative Christians interpret the book of Daniel as predicting the end of the world as we know it. This book is one of the most important books in the Hebrew Scriptures to Evangelical Christians, next to Genesis.
Liberal Christians generally believe that the book of Daniel was written by an unknown person circa 169 BCE. It was based on stories probably transmitted orally from the time of the Babylonian exile until the 2nd century BCE. The 4 beasts in Daniel’s dream (Chapter 7) refer to 4 ancient civilizations:
- the lion/eagle vision is a blending of the most powerful land animal and the most powerful bird; it represented King Nebuchadnezzar’s Neo-Babylonian empire.
- The bear represented the Median Empire.
- The leopard is the Persian Empire.
- The terrible beast represents the Seleucid Empire.
Since the book was written after the rise of the final empire, the author had the advantage of hindsight; the book is a history of past events, not prophecy of the future.
