Not sure this is a scientific survey, but it does come to a fairly obvious conclusion – what you believe religously might impact how you view the afterlife and other religions – Results from the Pew Forum Survey of 2,905 people:

  • More than half of American Christians believe that at least some non-Christian faiths can lead to eternal life
  • Shows that 7 in 10 Americans claiming a religious affiliation say that many religions can lead to eternal life. About one-fourth say theirs is the one true faith.
  • 80 percent — gave examples of at least one non-Christian religion that they believe can lead to salvation; 61 percent named two or more non-Christian religions.
  • 30 percent of Americans believe that whether one achieves eternal life is determined by what a person believes.
  • 29 percent said eternal life depends on actions.
  • 10 percent said the key to eternal life is a combination of beliefs and actions.
  • 30 percent said something else is the key to eternal life; they don’t know what leads to eternal life; or they don’t believe in eternal life.
  • The belief that theirs is the one faith that leads to eternal life is particularly pronounced among white evangelical Protestants and black Protestants.
  • Those who attend religious services at least once a week are more likely to say theirs is the one true faith.

Not sure what your beliefs are, but this is definitely something to think about as you look to find peace and how to govern your life.
